Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Infrastructure)

Your Role at Nutrient... We’re looking for a backend engineer passionate about building robust and scalable systems, excited about working with modern cloud technologies and distributed systems to power our Document Engine and SaaS products. You find satisfaction in architecting high-performance solutions, optimising system reliability, caring for the cloud infrastructure our products run on, and creating efficient backend services that handle complex document processing workflows at scale. You work in an AI-native way: you hand research and implementation work to agents, review their output critically, and build tooling that makes you and the team faster. What You'll Work On... Execute on the design and implementation of high-performance Elixir/Phoenix-based systems such as Nutrient's Document Engine and Web Services API. Design and build declarative infrastructure, robust, scalable and easy to observe and maintain (we are currently using Terraform, Terramate and FluxCD on Kubernetes, with Helm charts powering both our managed cloud and customer self-hosted deployments). Operate and evolve our managed cloud platform: cluster lifecycle and upgrades, GitOps workflows, observability, and database operations, keeping it reliable, secure, and costefficient.
